Upcoming Seminar: Cultural Competency and Diversity in the Healthcare Setting

Cultural competency is critical to reducing health disparities and improving access to high quality healthcare.  Freedom Home Care invites you to attend an upcoming seminar, titled Cultural Competency and Diversity in the Healthcare Setting on Tuesday, May 12th 2015 at Weinberg Community, 1551 Lake Cook Rd. Deerfield, IL from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. This seminar will show how cultural competency can be developed and implemented in the healthcare system. Dinner will be served at the seminar, and one CEU for Social Workers and Nurses will be offered.
Registration will take place from 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm  and the presentation will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.
curaeta care systemsThe Seminar will be given by Dr. George Savarese, PhD, LCSW.Dr. Savarese is the founder and CEO of Curaeta Care Systems, which provides continuing education training services to help professionals meet the requirements of state and regulatory agencies. Dr. Savarese’s research interests have concentrated in the areas of geriatrics and understanding and preventing violence. His doctoral work focused on the development of a family-based model of intervention with patients and families designed to offset or delay the need for institutionalization by addressing the behavioral issues that often result in placement. Since 1990, he has been conducting research which explores risk and protective factors associated with mental illness and violent behavior .
In 2009, Dr. Savarese was featured on the Discovery Channel’s “Wicked Attraction” series, in an episode entitled Consumed by Envy, which detailed his role as a forensic expert in a high profile death penalty trial.
