Meet Our Newest Freedom Employees

Freedom Home Care Hiring New EmployeesMeet Lisa Shenkman
Human Resources – Recruiting/On Boarding Specialist

Please join us in welcoming Lisa Shenkman to the Freedom Home Care team! Before joining Freedom Home Care, Lisa worked in the industry as a Private Duty Staffing Coordinator for 15 years. Prior to this, she was in healthcare administration for over 20 years, wearing many different hats having started her career as a certified nursing assistant. She soon expanded her medical knowledge by working in emergency ambulance dispatching, then on to medical billing/accounts receivables. But, most of her work was in geriatric and pediatric special needs patient care staffing in both clinical and home settings. With more than 35 years’ experience in healthcare, not only does Lisa bring tremendous knowledge of this industry, but her compassion and care for others emanates in her work.

At Freedom, Lisa is currently based at our new office in Vernon Hills, where she was instrumental and getting this location up and running. She is part of the Human Resource team primarily recruiting and onboarding caregivers and CNA’s. She interacts and meets new applicants, helping them navigate through Freedom Home Care’s hiring process. She enjoys connecting with caregivers on both a professional and personal level, and is such a strong asset to our team!

Lisa’s passion for helping and nurturing others doesn’t end with her professional career. It expands to her personal life by spending quality time with family and friends. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, she currently resides in Grayslake with her husband Scott of more than 30 years. She has four grown children and is a proud nana of five wonderful grandchildren who keep her very busy and are her absolute joy. When time allows, her creativity is expressed by beading, making jewelry, listening to good music, watching movie classics, going for walks and enjoying life as much as possible.
Reflecting on her role at Freedom, she is thrilled to be part of the new growth and development in the Vernon Hills location and helping others launch their careers within the agency. This natural progression of her career is so rewarding! She believes in Freedom Home Care and its mission, and is looking forward to many, many more years working with Freedom Home Care & Medical Staffing. We’re excited to have her with us!

Freedom Home Care Hiring New EmployeesMeet Julia Burack
Freedom Home Care Summer Intern

Please join us in welcoming Julia Burack to Freedom Home Care! Julia is working with us this summer as an intern and we are thrilled to have her join the team. A recent graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Julia studied Interdisciplinary Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology. After her internship with Freedom, she will be going back to the University of Illinois this fall to earn a graduate degree in Business Management within the health field. No stranger to Freedom, Julia has spent other summers working in our office. She has done everything from marketing and assisting with billing to working on the day to day operations and client services. She loves the welcoming warm environment of the office and how the experiences she’s had (and will have this summer) intertwine with her career goals. One day, she hopes to run or manage her own home health care business and work with seniors in some capacity.

This summer, she is looking forward to learning more about how Freedom Home Care runs from the inside out and what makes the business flourish! When she’s not interning, she enjoys a variety of different hobbies, usually within the art realm. She loves to play the piano and guitar, create art, design clothing, and build/design furniture! She grew up in a family that worked in both construction and the health field, so her hobbies came naturally. She is grateful for the opportunities that this summer will bring, and is excited to see where her work with Freedom will take her in the future!

Freedom Home Care Hiring New EmployeesMeet Keegan Clifton
Freedom Home Care Summer Intern

Please join us in welcoming summer intern, Keegan Clifton, to Freedom Home Care! Keegan currently attends Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, where he is studying business administration and is looking forward to attending graduate school with a focus on finance. He’s excited about his summer internship with Freedom because of the opportunity to learn a little bit about every part of the business, especially projects having to do with finance and numbers! He’s also enjoying seeing how much the staff truly cares about others and how they will do anything to help their clients and caregivers. He feels that getting hands-on experience in the field that he is studying in college is invaluable and he’s looking forward to gaining as much experience as possible with all the different departments at Freedom, as well as learning more about what happens behind the scenes.

When he’s not working, Keegan enjoys spending time with is family and going to the gym where he trains for football. While attending Olivet, he is on the football team and is excited about the upcoming season. He’s been playing football since the time he could walk and his dream had always been to play college football no matter where it was! “It’s a blessing to be surrounded by the teammates and brothers that I have built relationships with,” he said. “I love being able to teach and pass down to the younger guys on the team what I was once taught by my peers,” he added. Keegan’s younger brother is going to be a freshmen at Olivet this fall, studying engineering. It makes Keegan proud to know how much his brother looks up to him and it keeps him motivated to continue on his journey to help guide his brother. All of us at Freedom are so impressed with Keegan’s focus and work ethic and we’re looking forward to having him as an intern this summer!

Welcome!

We are excited to welcome these three new members to Freedom Home Care. Whether we are adding certified caregivers, office staff, or interns, we always make sure we have the best of the best on our team.
